Strasbourg. Fuad Gulubayli-APA. Ganira Pashayeva, member of Azerbaijani delegation to PACE addressed the plenary session of PACE and joined discussions on feminicide. She spoke about measures were taken on gender equality, increase of role of women in society, combating all kind of tortures committed against women and noted that State Committee on Family, Women and Children Affairs functioned on these issues.
“The congress of Azerbaijani women has been held under the leadership of First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva recently and these subjects were seriously debated,” she added.
Pashayeva underlined that the subject violence against women is very painful for Azerbaijan.
“As you that Armenia occupied 20% territories of Azerbaijani lands and pursued ethnic cleansing there. One million IDPs have been driven out of their native lands for 15 years and Armenia continues to breach their rights preventing them to return their lands. Hundreds of woman captives and hostages were undergone tortures by Armenians. I can present photos of women released from captivity to all interested MP and assure you that you will be horrified. There are hundreds of captives and hostages. Armenia has not released them from captivity for 15 years and they continue to commit violence against them. Such kind of terrible actions should be condemned and PACE should increase their efforts to prevent such kind of developments,” she stressed.
