Iran cancels temporary visa regime for Azerbaijani citizens

Today, compactness of buses coming from Nakhchivan to Baku occurred on Julfa border-check point of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. APA reports that 5 buses that intended to move to Iran’s territory from above mentioned check-point in the morning time were not permitted.

Iran’s customs officers informed that they were waiting for instructions from Tehran.

According to information, the people who applied the Iranian Consulate in Nakhchivan for visa were informed that the visa regime between the states would be cancelled from September 1 and there was no need to obtain it.

Iran started allowing Azerbaijani citizens to cross the border from 11.00 by local time.

Iran re-established visa regime for Azerbaijan from August 5 to 31 due to the 16th summit of Non-Aligned Movement in Tehran on August 26-31.

Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs sent a note to Azerbaijan dealing with this issue. The note reads that Azerbaijani citizens must obtain visa from August 5 to 31 due to the Non-Aligned Movement Summit, but the visa regime will be cancelled after August 31.

People coming to Baku from Nakhchivan applied Iranian Consulate in Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic to receive visa and those who leave for Nakhchivan applied Iran’s embassy in Baku.
