Czech Republic Foreign Minister Yan Kohout: “Azerbaijan is strategic partner of Czechia in the South Caucasus region”

Mammadyarov said at the briefing held after the meeting that they discussed issues on cooperation in power engineering, tourism spheres. Decision on holding of mutual Culture Days was made: “Azerbaijan is ready to collaborate with Czechia in connection with wide spectrum issues”.

Czech Republic Foreign Minister Yan Kohout said that Azerbaijan was a strategic partner of Czechia in the South Caucasus region. He gave an example the opening of Azerbaijani embassy and noted that that step would strengthen bilateral relations: “We are interested in cooperation with Azerbaijan in economic sphere, especially in the transportation of energy resources. Currently, 25 percent of energy resources used by Czechia belong to Azerbaijani oil. That is, every 4th car in Czechia moves with Azerbaijani petrol. Czechia is also interested in the development of Azerbaijani industry. We can share our practice in use of energy supplies and in purification of drinkable water. We would like to develop bilateral relations also in education and science spheres in the future”.

Answering questions of journalists, the minister noted that Czechia was ready to contribute to the process of solution to Nagorno Karabakh conflict: “The conflict must be regulated on the basis of principles and norms of international law, as well as territorial integrity of both countries”.
