Baku. Viktoria Dementieva – APA. Head of the European Union Delegation to Azerbaijan Roland Kobia held a press conference devoted to the 60th anniversary of the united Europe, APA reports. Roland Kobia mentioned that Schuman declaration was signed 60 years ago and it laid the foundation of the future European Union.
“Schuman tried to establish a union that would bring together the European countries. And this was the new conception of the relations among these states. The main idea of the then French Foreign Minister Robert Schuman was to establish a united area of pit coal, iron ore and metallurgy of the countries of the Western Europe,†he said.
Roland Kobia said Schuman conception had an influence on the establishment of stability and peace in the European region.
May 9 is marked in the EU countries as the day of establishment of the united Europe.
