The Director General of Omani Diplomatic Institute, Dr. Ahmed bin Salim Ba’Omar, and First Secretary of the Institute, Isa bin Saleh Al-Sheyba, visited Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy on May 3-6. The guests met with ADA Rector, Dr. Hafiz Pashayev, to discuss perspectives for academic exchange between their institutes, ADA sources told APA. Dr. Ahmed bin Salim Ba’Omar and Isa bin Saleh Al-Sheyba also met with Fariz Ismailzade, Director of Advanced Foreign Service Program, Ms. Janice Austin, Director of Admissions, Dr. Vafa Kazdal, Director of the English for Academic and Professional Purposes Program, and Dr. Anar Valiyev, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs. The guests concluded their visit with a meeting hosted by deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Khalaf Khalafov.
Dr. Ahmed bin Salim Ba’Omar commented on their meetings at ADA that the visit had been very useful for both sides and that they had a thoughtful and productive exchange of ideas with ADA leadership and staff. He noted: "We were impressed to learn that ADA’s Advanced Foreign Service Program is 6 months long and a well planned program, and that ADA provides not only professional development training but also comprehensive postgraduate education. The Azerbaijani side also leant something about Oman’s Diplomatic Institute, which had been established in 1991. For example, we provide special trainings for diplomats’ spouses posted abroad. They are thought to better present their country, education and history of Oman. That’s where Azerbaijan side can learn from our experienceâ€.
