Georgia hosts international conference

Tbilisi. Nizami Mammadzadeh – APA. Today, a conference organized by the World Bank has kicked off on Feb. 10-12 within the framework of the PEMPAL (Public Expenditure Management Peer Assisted Learning) program in Tbilisi, Georgia.

APA’s Georgian bureau reports that the conference to last till February 12 has been opened by Georgian Finance Minister Nodar Khaduri. N. Khaduri gave information about PEMPAL program and financing of the projects realizing under this program, as well as role of donor organizations, improvement of Finance Ministry: “Tbilisi hosts international conference on PEMPAL program every year. This year’s event is very important and dedicated to registration and report of common sector in accounting. We’ll inform and share opinion about management of public finance in budget, treasury, audit and internal audit spheres, accounting in state sector and accountability”.

It was noted at the event that representatives of member states of PEMPAL program. International experts will share their experiences in accounting, hold presentation of different thematic projects.

Azerbaijan is represented by delegation of Ministry of Finance.

The conference is being attended by heads of state treasury and representatives of other financial organizations from 15 countries of Central Asia and Eastern Europe.

PEMPAL was founded by the World Bank in 2005. Its purpose is to raise the qualification of employees of public finance management through the interchange of knowledge and experience. The program includes representatives of 21 countries of Central Asia, Eastern and Central Europe.

Deputy Director of State Treasury Agency of the Ministry of Finance Vugar Abdullayev told journalists that it was spoken at the conference about existing experience in the member states of PEMPAL program: “Azerbaijan hosted such conference in November, 2013. We have sufficient experience within the framework of the program. We gave information in this conference about reforms in Azerbaijan’s financial sphere, e-organization of treasury, modernization of treasury information system and other important issues”.
