Baku hosts meeting of Azerbaijan-Italy intergovernmental commission  - <span style="color: red;">UPDATED

Azerbaijan’s Minister of Energy, co-chair of the commission Natig Aliyev said Italy’s interest in Azerbaijan has recently increased. According to him, famous Italian companies are operating in Azerbaijan.

Azerbaijan’s Deputy Minister of Economy and Industry Niyazi Safarov said Italy is number one trade partner of Azerbaijan.

“Azerbaijan is also interested in the development of bilateral partnership and will do its best for it,” he said.

Italian co-chair of the commission, Deputy Foreign Minister Marta Dassù said Italy is going to improve financial cooperation with Azerbaijan. She said business relations should be enhanced.

“A special agency has been established at Italy’s Finance Ministry to regulate and improve the activity of Italian companies in other countries. The agency has allocated €350bn for financial support to these companies. We think that a joint website should be established to enhance the economic relations between the two countries,” she said.

Natig Aliyev approved the initiative and advised to include it in the final protocol of the meeting.

Protocol of Azerbaijan-Italy intergovernmental commission was signed at the end of the meeting. The protocol covers implementation of the protocol of the 2nd meeting of Italy-Azerbaijan intergovernmental commission, cooperation in trade, investment, economy, energy, health, agriculture, education, transport, labor market, social protection, culture and other spheres.

The protocol was signed by Natig Aliyev and Marta Dassù.
