The Ukrainian army is preventing Russian forces from consolidating their positions in the Pokrovsk direction, said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, APA reports.
He added that Ukrainian positions in the Donetsk region will be strengthened.
He noted that Russia is trying to seize strategically important areas on the front in order to bolster its stance at the upcoming summit in Alaska.
The Ukrainian leader announced that the system of contractual military service will be further developed in the armed forces.
He also stated that the summit between the U.S. and Russian leaders in Alaska should create the basis for a trilateral meeting involving Ukraine, the U.S., and Russia.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed that the war must come to an end, and for that, Russia needs to take action.
