The Georgian state pays much attention to employing students of ethnic minorities, including Azerbaijanis, at state structures, First Deputy State Minister of Georgia for Reconciliation and Civic Equality Petre Kankava said at an event in Marneuli region, which is home to a large Azerbaijani community, APA’s Georgia bureau reported.
Kankava noted that 66 students are already enrolled in internship at 14 facilities, governorates and local structures.
“We mostly employ youth who speak perfect Georgian. It’s important to us. We will give more preference to youth in the future. We will continue to work in this area and a number of ministries will join our initiative. Last year alone, more than 1,000 students of ethnic minorities got in Georgia’s universities within the framework of “1+4” programme,” the deputy minister said.
He stressed that they provided financial aid to “Gurcustan” (Georgia) newspaper published in Azerbaijani and “Vrastan” newspaper published in Armenian, which are distributed in the regions where ethnic minorities live, fill information gaps and inform the people about innovations.
Touching upon the prospects of Georgia-EU cooperation, Kankava said that the products manufactured in Georgia will freely enter the European market.
“Today, unique opportunities have been created for us. We will see quality products grown in Marneuli, Bolnisi, Gardabani and Dmanisi regions in the European market. This is good for the Georgian people”, he added.
