Ukraine is planning new offensive operations because victory cannot be achieved solely through defense, Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Oleksandr Syrsky said in an interview with lb.ua, APA reports.
He emphasized that Russia's strategic plan has not changed and provides for the occupation of all of Ukraine: only the planned deadlines, as well as the available amount of weapons and personnel, are changing.
"Therefore, we will conduct a strategic defensive operation, but we understand that victory cannot be achieved through defense. Therefore, we will conduct offensive operations, fighting to maintain the operational initiative, because this forces the enemy to commit and withdraw significant manpower, weapons, and ammunition to deter our active operations," Syrsky stated.
