Türkiye may send peacekeeping forces to Ukraine after a ceasefire, APA’s Türkiye bureau reports, citing a statement by the Turkish Ministry of National Defense.
The Ministry noted that Türkiye is ready to contribute to all constructive initiatives aimed at ensuring a permanent ceasefire in the Russia–Ukraine war.
In this context, it was noted that Türkiye actively joined the “Coalition of the Willing.”
“To send peacekeeping forces to Ukraine, a ceasefire must first be ensured, followed by the formation of a mission with clearly defined duties and clarification of which country will contribute and in what capacity.
Within the framework of the principle of regional ownership, Türkiye has carefully, responsibly, impartially, and uncompromisingly applied the Montreux Convention Regarding the Regime of the Straits, which ensures balance in the Black Sea and is of great importance for regional security, and will continue to do so,” the statement by the Turkish Ministry of National Defense said.
