Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has said that Poland will not send soldiers to Ukraine after the war ends, APA reports, citing TVP WORLD.

Tusk made the comments in Warsaw after talks with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, focusing on bilateral relations and international security.

“I confirm that Poland does not intend to send soldiers on a mission to Ukraine after the end of the war, whereas it is Poland that will be responsible for the logistical organization of aid for Ukraine, as well as for the protection of the European border,” Tusk said.

He added that Poland as well as Canada remain committed to supporting Ukraine in its defense against Russia.

The meeting also covered economic and energy cooperation.

“We have accelerated the process of deepening strategic cooperation. Soon we will raise our Polish-Canadian relations to the level of a strategic partnership. Together with the prime minister of Canada, we both expressed our intention to accelerate this process,” Tusk told reporters.

He recalled earlier talks with former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on nuclear energy.

“Poland needs reliable partners ready for very close cooperation, when it comes to nuclear energy but also other renewable energy initiatives and here Canada’s experience will be very useful for us,” he said.

Tusk added that military cooperation between the two countries was also on the agenda during the meeting but gave no further details.
