Polish Border Guard officers were attacked in Tbilisi, APA's local bureau reports.
The incident occurred the other day during the extradition procedure of a group of individuals.
The attackers inflicted serious injuries on the border guards with metal objects and knives. Two officers with severe head injuries were hospitalized, and one underwent surgery.
The Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that two people were detained in connection with the incident. One of them was previously convicted of various serious crimes.
The investigation revealed that the accused persons inflicted various degrees of bodily injuries on 3 Polish citizens near a restaurant in Tbilisi due to a mutual dispute.
Investigative measures are continuing in connection with the incident.
According to Polish media, the officers were in Tbilisi as part of the operation to repatriate deported Georgian citizens.
