The number of Cubans fighting on Russia's side could reach 25,000, APA reports, citing Forbes.

According to the publication, due to record-breaking losses, Russia has begun to massively recruit foreigners and migrants living in the country into its army. For Moscow, this is a way to continue the war without internal discontent, and for its allies, an opportunity to gain combat experience in modern warfare.

For Cubans, the attraction of participating in the war is mainly due to financial interest. Forbes notes that they are promised a salary of about $ 2,000 per month, which is ten times higher than the average salary in Cuba (the average salary is about $ 20).

Although Havana officially denies its direct participation in this process, analysts believe that the recruitment of soldiers on this scale would not have been possible without the tacit consent of the local authorities.
