Tisza Party leader and MEP Péter Magyar announced that he has begun receiving congratulations from foreign leaders on his victory in Hungary's parliamentary elections, APA reports.
"We were congratulated by telephone by the German Chancellor [Friedrich Merz] and the NATO Secretary General [Mark Rutte]," he wrote on Facebook (banned in Russia, owned by the Meta corporation, which is recognized as extremist in the Russian Federation).
According to reports from European capitals, other leaders, including French President Emmanuel Macron, also sent congratulations to Magyar. The Tisza leader enjoyed the support of many European politicians, including EU leaders, in his political battle with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán.
Magyar is expected to be elected as head of the Hungarian government at the first session of the new parliament, which will take place in early May. The exact date will be determined by President Tamás Szujok.
