The European Union’s response to the new U.S. tariffs will be firm, said German Chancellor Friedrich Merz during his speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos, APA reports.

“The acquisition of European territory by force is unacceptable. The new tariffs will undermine the foundation of Transatlantic countries. The European Union’s response to these tariffs will be joint, firm, and calculated,” Merz warned.

The German Chancellor praised the planned framework agreement regarding Greenland, calling it the “right path.”

Note that U.S. President Donald Trump has repeatedly emphasized that Greenland would be incorporated into U.S. territory.

The framework agreement on Greenland was agreed upon yesterday by NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte and U.S. President Donald Trump.

It has been reported that if Europe does not agree with this, new economic tariffs will be imposed on EU countries.
