Georgia aims to become fully self-sufficient in electricity by 2030, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said at the Sustainable Development Week summit held in Abu Dhabi, APA’s local bureau reports.

According to him, electricity produced in Georgia could be exported to European markets.

“There are very significant opportunities for this. I believe this prospect will be realized in 2026,” Kobakhidze added.

The prime minister also spoke about the Black Sea submarine cable project, noting that the Georgian government attaches great importance to it and positively assesses the European Commission’s decision to include the project in its list of priorities.

“Without this project, it would be difficult to fully utilize Georgia’s energy resources. The project is of mutual interest, and we are increasingly optimistic about its implementation,” he said.
