The European Union plans to adopt a 20th package of sanctions against Russia by February 24, 2026, the fourth anniversary of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, APA reports, citing Euractiv.
As the agency notes, citing an unnamed diplomat, the EU may present a new package of restrictive measures precisely on the anniversary of Russia's aggression against Ukraine.
"A diplomat said the EU’s 20th sanctions package was expected by 24 February, the fourth anniversary of the war," Euractiv writes.
According to the agency, Finland and Sweden are the initiators of the sanctions tightening.
They propose to introduce new restrictions on the export of luxury goods to Russia, the servicing of oil tankers, and to reduce quotas on the import of Russian fertilizers.
