The European Union is developing plans to impose sanctions against American companies if US President Donald Trump persists in his plans to annex Greenland, APA reports citing British weekly newspaper The Sunday Telegraph.
According to the publication, restrictive measures could affect American tech giants Meta (designated extremist in Russia), Google, and Microsoft. Furthermore, Brussels may restrict X and impose restrictions on US banks and financial firms.
The newspaper emphasized that a scenario is also being considered in which European countries could close American military bases on their territory. The Sunday Telegraph called such measures extreme and added that they could be taken if Trump rejects the proposal by the UK and leading EU member states to deploy a NATO mission to Greenland to prevent the island from joining the US.
