Danish FM denies Trump's claims about China's military presence near Greenland

Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen denied US President Donald Trump's claims about the presence of Chinese warships off the coast of Greenland, APA reports.

As he noted at a press conference in Washington, the People's Liberation Army Navy has not been near the island for approximately 10 years.

The minister noted that Wednesday's talks with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Vice President J.D. Vance provided a good opportunity to exchange views. "For [Greenlandic Foreign Minister] Viviane [Motzfeldt] and me, it was also an excellent opportunity to refute this narrative, because it's false. You know, the one that claims there are Chinese warships all around [Greenland]. According to our intelligence, there haven't been any in Greenland for about 10 years," Rasmussen said.

"So from that point of view, as I said, it was a very constructive meeting, a frank discussion between equal partners," he added.
