According to local radio, Spanish intelligence arrested suspected CNI double agent on Tuesday, who has been working for Russia since 2004.
Spanish intelligence has arrested a suspected double agent who had been sending state secrets to Russia, the head of the National Intelligence Agency (CNI) said on Tuesday, according to local radio.
The double agent has been working for Russia since 2004, CNI head Alberto Saiz said.
The suspected spy, who was arrested in Tenerife, the Canary Islands, on Monday, revealed dozens of identities as well as other information about Spain’s spy service beginning in 2001, Saiz said, according to news agency Europa Press.
But no information about Spain’s counter-terrorism fight was revealed, Saiz was quoted by the Europa Press as saying.
"National security has not been at risk," he said, adding that European Union and NATO security information had not been revealed either. /APA/
