Turkish top military official resigns

In his farewell message Kosaner explained the reasons of his early retirement. Kosaner said it was impossible for him to continue in his role as he was unable to defend the rights of men who had been detained as a consequence of a judicial process against the army servicemen. He said some 250 military personnel are currently in jail and called it as an action against the law, justice and conscience.
“The long-term investigation and arrests aim always to keep the Turkish Armed Forces on agenda, to create public opinion against it and non-objective mass media spread false information to put the nation against its armed forces. It is impossible for me to continue my duties in this high post because this situation prevents me to defend the rights of men who are under my commandâ€, General said.
