Baku-APA. Greek Prime Minister George Papandreou will not travel to Cairo on Sunday as initially planned to hold talks with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, according to an official statement released here on Saturday evening. "Due to the latest developments in Egypt, in coordination with the Egyptian leadership, we decided to postpone the Premier’s visit to Cairo, initially scheduled for Sunday," said the statement from Papandreou’s office, APA reports quoting Xinhua News Agency.

Papandreou announced in Brussels Friday after the European Union summit that he would fly to Egypt to deliver a message of EU leaders to Mubarak, who is facing amounting pressure for him to step down. "The Premier is in constant contact with the Egyptian leadership and plans to make the visit shortly, as soon as the conditions are deemed right," the statement said.

On Saturday, Papandreou held a new round of telephone conversations regarding the crisis in Egypt with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Palestinian President Mahmud Abbas and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, said the Premier’s office.
