Baku. Agshin Rafigoglu – APA-Economics. SOCAR and BP-Azerbaijan achieved a significant reduction in the volume of gas flaring in the Chirag platform of the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli (ACG).

SOCAR told APA-Economics that reconstruction of gas gathering compressors in the platform, as well as the improvement of the gas inlet system at the Oil Rocks under Azneft IU have reduced the volume of gas to be sent to the flare for burning to 2%, which is the best figure for the past 20 years. This achievement will prevent the annual emission 265 tons of carbon dioxide to the atmosphere, contribute to climate change.

Reducing gas flaring was made possible thanks to the collaboration of SOCAR and BP-Azerbaijan within the framework of the joint working group. Companies will continue to work to achieve a zero indicator flaring.
