Baku-APA. “During these six months, serious steps have been taken in the oil and gas sector, in particular in the implementation of the Southern Gas Corridor”, said President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev at the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, dedicated to the results of socioeconomic development in the first half of 2014 and objectives for the future.
“Preliminary tenders were announced. Implementation of the project TANAP, it can be said, has already begun. A period of preparation for construction continues very successfully. I believe that we will promptly implement this major project. The initiator of the Southern Gas Corridor is Azerbaijan. As a result of this project, Azerbaijan, its neighbors and European countries will get a great benefit, and in this case Azerbaijan has demonstrated leadership qualities. These three projects, "Shah Deniz-2", TANAP and TAP, will change the energy map of Europe and will turn Azerbaijan into a very important economic and energy partner, and most importantly will continue to ensure the welfare of the Azerbaijani people in addressing economic and financial issues. As a result of this project Azerbaijan will receive great benefits from gas exports at least a hundred years and Azerbaijan's role in the world will increase.

Today, energy policy is an integral part of our overall policy, national security issue, not only for us but also for all countries. Events, observed in recent months in the region in Europe and some tension in this area once again show that without energy security, no country can feel comfortable and have an independent policy.
Our partners appreciate it. Azerbaijan will never use its energy resources for other purposes. Our philosophy and approach to this issue lies in the fact that energy resources should expand cooperation, strengthen unity. Pursuing this policy, we will certainly provide our national interests.
