BP-Azerbaijan: Shahdeniz extracts 7.7 bcm of gas and 2 mln tonnes of condensate this year

Baku. Nijat Mustafayav – APA-Economics.  In 2012, 7.73 bcm of gas and 2 mln tonnes of condensate were extracted in Shahdeniz field, BP-Azerbaijan said in its annual report. 

 

According to document first extraction started in the 5 wells in May, 2012 and 37.6 bcm of gas and 10.1 mln tonnes of condensate have been exported to the international markets from 2006 to 2012. 

 

The extraction objects extract 7.3 bcm of gas and 55,000 barrel of condensate per day. 

 

Total operating expenses on Shahdeniz made $269.3 mln, capital expenses - $1.1 bln. This year, the operating expenses are expected to be $222 mln, capital expenses - $2.67 bln.

 

Second stage is a large project to deliver gas from Azerbaijan to Europe and Turkey. This will strengthen gas supply of European markets and energy safety. Consequently, 16 bcm f gas will be added to the annual 9 bcm of gas exported within the first stage.
