Baku to host International conference on environmental issues in oil industry

Baku. Aynur Aliyeva – APA-Economics. On 4-5 November 2013 the International conference on “Global View on Environmental Issues in Oil Industry” will take place at the Four Seasons Hotel with support from the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR). The event is dedicated to the 90th Anniversary of the National Leader of Azerbaijani nation – Heydar Aliyev. The International Dialogue for Environmental Action (IDEA) and Iteca Caspian LLC will provide organizational support.

The conference is expected to bring together more than 200 delegates, including representatives of government agencies and oil & gas companies from around the world, alongside scientists and leading experts in the field of ecology.

The conference aims not only to analyse current environmental issues but to develop relevant proposals for their solution within a framework of international cooperation. The conference will touch on issues such as the development of the oil and gas industry and air emissions; the impact of offshore oil and gas operations on water basins; the restoration and management of soil polluted with oil and oil products; innovative management of the oil industry wastes; and alternative energy and energy efficiency in oil and gas operations.
