According to SOCAR President Rovnag Abdullayev, in connection with new projects, Azerbaijan needs new drilling plants. Under the contract with Keppel, the first plant will be constructed from June.
Abdullayev said that the construction of the 6th generation floating drilling plant costs more than $ 1 bln. The plant will be able to operate in the depth of 1,000 meters and drill a well into 12,000 meters. New drilling plant will be constructed in Azerbaijan.
Abdullayev says the construction period is 41 months and in 2016 the plant will be launched into water.
At the same time, the negotiations on the second well have been started. The second plant is designed for exploitation by SOCAR and Total companies in Absheron fields.
Moreover, Azerbaijan needs more two analogical drilling plants.
