Note that, today, SOCAR and the South Korean Samsung Engineering Co. Ltd. signed a contract on construction of carbamide plant, worth 500 million euros.

SOCAR President Rovnag Abdullayev said that along with the construction in Azerbaijan, Samsung Engineering would prepare a feasibility study of the plant in Georgia, and would seek funding for construction.

According to Abdullayev, with the launch of the two plants, Azerbaijan will become the largest exporter of carbamide and ammonia not only in the Black Sea, but also in the Mediterranean basin. The plant in Georgia will be different from the Azeri counterpart. Thus the preference as the final product in this plant will not be given to carbadime but to ammonium. Construction of the plant in Georgia will be realized by a method of project financing, that is, it does not rule out other shareholders, too. Samsung, the Georgian government, or any private investor may be shareholders here.

Daily production capacity of the plant in Azerbaijani factory will make 2 tonnes of carbamide. The plant will produce ammonia, liquid carbamide and commodity carbamide. All the products to be produced here will both meet the domestic demand and be exported. 24 ha area has been allotted for the construction. The plant will be constructed during 2013-2015.
