Russian ambassador: â€œGas export from Azerbaijan to Russia maybe increased by 2 times in 2011â€

To him, transportation of Azerbaijani gas is an unique element in Russian-Azerbaijani relations: â€œThe daily indicators show that 2 bn cubic meters of gas is expected to transport until the end of this yearâ€.

The Ambassador stressed that, they were ready to purchase gas from Azerbaijan which it can sell: â€œFrom this viewpoint, Gaspromâ€™s proposal is still in the force. If Azerbaijan begins to sell more gas, we will purchase it. But if, Azerbaijan wants to sell its gas to Nabucco or to other place, let it do it. We have full mutual understanding with Azerbaijan on these issues. We respect Azerbaijanâ€™s opinion and it will be so in futureâ€.

Speaking about the trade turnover between the two countries, Dorokhin said that trade turnover reached record level in 2009 â€“ $2.4 bn. This indicator slipped to $1.8 bn due to global economic crisis in 2010. According to prognoses, in 2011, it will reach $ 2.7 bn.
