Lars Troen SÃ¸rensen: â€œLaunching of the Southern Corridor will show that Azerbaijan is a reliable supplierâ€

He said that Azerbaijan played an important role in supply of Europeâ€™s energy security: â€œEuropeâ€™s need for energy products, especially for gas has increased. Need for gas will increase by 6-8% year-by-year. Event, it will increase by 20-25% during the next yearsâ€.

â€œGas market increases at the global level and volume of production is very important in this sphere. Price of gas depends on growth of energy need. And that is why, need for gas will increase. At the same time, use of gas decreases the volume of wastes thrown to the atmosphereâ€, said the Statoil official.

Speaking about gas reserves of the Caspian region, SÃ¸rensen noted that this region would play an important role in gas supply of Europe. From this viewpoint, company president noted that role of Shahdaniz-2 project in gas supply of Europe had been attached special importance: â€œLaunching of the Southern Corridor will show that Azerbaijan is a reliable supplierâ€.
