Note that, South Stream Gas pipeline project considers meeting the European need for gas on account of Russian gas. That is why, this project is direct rival of Nabucco project supported by European countries. The total length will be around 900 km, maximum depth - more than 2 km, and capacity - 63 billion cubic meters of gas a year. For the onshore section of the project, Russia has signed intergovernmental agreements with Austria, Bulgaria, Serbia, Greece, Hungary, Romania, Slovenia and Croatia.
