Proposals for transportation of Shahdaniz gas to Europe will be accepted until October

Baku. Ali Ahmadov - APA-Economics. Within framework of full-scale development of Shahdaniz deposit, first gas is expected to get in 2017.

Operator of the project BP says that Shahdaniz is a big project, which purposes to increase gas supply of European markets and difference of energy sources by delivering Azerbaijani gas to Europe and Turkey via new southern gas corridor. As a result of this project, within the framework of â€œMarhala 1â€, each year 16 bn cubic meters of gas is expected to add to 9 bn cubic meters of gas.

Note that, full-scale development of Shahdaniz is one of the biggest gas projects of the world. New southern corridor will increase safety and branchiness of gas import to the Europe.

According to current plans, within framework of this project, two new platforms joined with bridge, having processing capacity of 16 billion years. cubic meters of gas, 26 subsea wells to be drilled from semi-submersible drilling rigs, 500 km- sub-sea pipeline are considered to establish. Moreover, South Caucasus Pipeline (Baku-Tbilisi-Arzurum) is considered to extend for the purpose of transporting additional 16 bn cubic meters of gas and extend of Sangachal terminal.

BP says that the project has advanced until the last stages. That is, SDX07 appraisal well has been successfully drilled and closed for future development, next well â€“ SDX07 started to be drilled. Works on next stage of engineering design is being continued.

Moreover, for the purpose of help to long-term gas purchase agreements, SOCAR and Shahdaniz partners signed the document for extending production sharing agreement from 2031 to 2036. Besides, Shahdaniz export transit organization has been established in Ankara for the purpose of work with EUâ€™s main perspective pipeline groups, as well as with ITGI, Nabucco and TAP. Shahdaniz export transit organization wanted from all pipeline groups to present the specified proposals for gas transportation until October 1. selection of export route will be accepted on the basis of commercial, technical and strategic criterions of the proposals.
