Azerbaijan and Ukraine start consultations on construction and supplying of liquefied natural gas terminal

He reminded the signing of relevant agreement (the Memorandum of Cooperation on Supplying Liquefied Gas to Ukraine) in Davos in January this year: â€œWe now begin serious consultations on this issueâ€.

Aliyev underlined the importance of settlement of several technical, commercial and legal issues for the realization of this project: â€œDuring the discussion we have seen the strong desire of our Ukrainian partners in the direction of realization of this project. It is Ukraineâ€™s initiative. Two countries hold consultations in the level of ministries and companies. I think these consultations will yield concrete proposals and feasibility studies. We believe this project is promising, and will be taking active part in the processes of its implementationâ€.

The Azerbaijani President called energy sector an important component of cooperation between the two countries. "Everything is well in that area," he said, reminding that last year, 1,5 million tons of Azerbaijani oil was transported to Ukraine.
