Ashgabat to host international conference on Caspian environmental problems

Baku. Lachin Sultanova â€“ APA. On February 28, an international conference on the environmental aspects of the pipeline passing through the Caspian Sea will take place in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan.

The government officials of Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan, representatives of Petronas, Dragon Oil, Total oil and gas companies will participate in the conference, Turkmenistanâ€™s embassy in Azerbaijan told APA.

Environmental security, use of international experience in the pipeline construction, environmental requirements and norms during the exploitation of the Caspian hydrocarbon resources will be on the conference agenda.

President of Turkmenistan Gurbangulu Berdimuhamedov urged relevant organizations of his country to strengthen environmental examination of the Caspian oil and gas projects. The question is about the Trans-Caspian gas pipeline between Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan, which is expected to join Nabucco project.
