Azerbaijan and EU establish joint working group on South Corridor project

The document was signed by Azerbaijani Minister of Industry and Energy Natig ALiyev and Günther Oettinger, European Commissioner for Energy.

Press Secretary of Ministry, Azer MAnsimli says that this document was signed in accordance to the orders of President Ilham Aliyev and President of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso and it is next step for solution of forthcoming issues: “Both presidents gave a task to us, yesterday. Thus, both Günther Oettinger and I were ordered to realize the issues arising from Joint Statement and measures, soon. We signed the protocol of intent and came to agreement how to realize the Joint Statement. This is our road map. We decided to establish joint working group and secure the participation of the specialists and experts of both Azerbaijan and EU Commissariat”, said the minister.

Note that, the joint working group is established for discussion of juridical, political, commercial, technical and other issues which can be created. “If any of these is created, we have to explain these” he said. According to him, at the same time, foreign companies and interesting sides will be attracted to this issue. This group will give information to Azerbaijani and EC President about the works, two times in a month.

Speaking about importance of cooperation EU with Azerbaijan, G. Oettinger noted that the orders on Joint Statement on South Corridor would be fulfilled successfully.
