New power line to be built between Azerbaijan and Georgia

Baku. Vahab Rzayev – APA-Economics. A new 500 kilowatt electricity transmission line will be built between Georgia and Azerbaijan which will be utilized by the end of 2011. The statement was made by Georgia’s Energy Minister Alexander Khetaguri, 24 Hours reports. According to him, EnergoPro Georgia will construct an additional transmission line from Sarpi to Miuratli in Turkey this year. The 500 kilowatt transmission line has been under construction between Georgia and Turkey since 2009. It is scheduled to be completed next year.

The total project budget is 220 million Euros and it will be financed by preferential credits issued by the EBRD (European Bank for Reconstruction and Development), German Banking Group - KFW and EIB (European Investment Bank).
