Presenting EU’s energy packet till 2020 (Southern Corridor project was included in list of EU’s priorities) Rolan Kobia noted that, Azerbaijan and EU are interested in diversification of energy carriers’ routes: “Seeking of new consumer makes the prices at energy market more useful for Azerbaijan. Russia pays for Azerbaijani gas more, than it paid before”.

He also noted that, realization of Southern Corridor project is related with starting of Shahdeniz-2 project: “We want Southern Corridor to be ready till 2016-2017 – starting of Shahdeniz-2 project. All researches show that, production of energy carriers will be decreased in Europe and the need for gas will be increased”.

Kobia says EU’s priorities projects list includes Nabucco and ITGI projects: “Realization of Nabucco gas project will create opportunities for Azerbaijan to be changed to great gas transiting country. If Azerbaijan can’t supply Nabucco gas pipeline, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan can also join the project”.

He also noted that Iran’s joining Nabucco project was impossible.
