Azerbaijan to start methanol productin after 2 years

According to him the construction of first line is being conducted in the plant and this will just produce methanol. MNore 5 lines will be launched in the perspective and these lines include production of carbamide, ammoniak, acetosalic acid, polyester and nylon: â€œThe first line is expected to be launched in 2012, second after 1.5-2 yearsâ€.

He also noted that main 6 lines will be in the plant and the plant will not have negative influence on environment. Thus, the waste gas will be used by the plant.

Methanol is considered as a fuel of future and this fuel is changed to water when it is used.

â€œWe plan to export methanol to European and Asian countries. Several countries applied to us about export of methanolâ€, he added.

Note that methanol is used in agrarian sector and household works.

To date, EBRD and AzMeCo signed $120 mln-credit contract last year. Besides, the company signed a contract with EBRD on the construction of methanol plant and additional 5 plants producing intermediate gases. Total cost of 6 plants makes 1.1 bln dollars. 33% of this will be allocated by EBRD, other by other banks.
