LUKoil Company intends to join Baku-Ceyhan pipeline

According to APA-Economics, citing to RBC, the company also intends to get share in pipeline, because the oil transportation will be more productively.

Besides, LUKoil investigates the transportation opportunities of oil via Baku-Novorossiysk, Caspian Pipeline Consortium and tanker to Volgograd Oil Processing Plant.

Note that 8 fields of LUKoil in Caspian are expected to be launched and the transportation issues will be actualized. The company says the it intends to get share from BTC to reduce the transportation tariffs.

According to representative of RusEnergy consulting company Michael Krutikhin, BTC pipeline has not been filled with the oil and additional oil can be sent via this pipeline. He also noted that there are 2 tariffs in BTC system. One of them is for consortium participants and the other for foreign companies. This caused LUKoil to be consortium participant that it will be more productively.

M. Krutikhin aslo stressed that Kazakhstan was also offered oil opportunities via BTC pipeline. Astana refused this and increased the quota from 27 mln tons to 52.5 mln tons.
