Heads of state and government of Azerbaijan, Georgia, Romania and Hungary hold meeting in Baku
Georgian president M. Saakashvili spoke about Azerbaijan’s role in regional energy cooperation and Georgia’s transit role in transportation of energy carriers.
Romanian president T. Basescu spoke about importance of AGRI project for his country.
Hungarian president emphasized that Hungary is ready to participate in AGRI project and it has great importance for his country.
Azerbaijani Minister of Industry and Energy Natig Aliyev made speech about the AGRI project and were exchanged views around the subject.
After this Azerbaijani President I. Aliyev, Romanian President T. Basescu, Georgian President M. Saakashvili and Hungarian PM V. Orban have signed Baku Declaration on AGRI project.
After the signing Azerbaijani president I.Aliyev emphasized that Azerbaijan has a rare experience in energy sphere and it was important to realize the balance of interests of the sides at AGRI project. According to him Azerbaijan has 7 oil-gas pipelines and Azerbaijan transports its oil and gas to the different directions.
Azerbaijan produced 28 bln cubic meters of gas and the local need is 10-11 bln cubic meters. Others are exported and pumped to the storehouses.
Georgian president M., Saakashvili spoke about AGRI project’s importance not only in the region countries but in European countries. Hungary’s participation in this project wil bring a new shade to european Energy Safety.
Romanian President T. Basescu noted that fulfilment of this project will have a positive impact on the successfully implementation of Eastern partnership program. The project will also support the cooperation between Caspian region and European countries. Joining of Hungary this project is an important element for its proxy. According to him it is an important problem to construct the 2 gas terminals in the areas of Romania’s Constanta and Georgia’s Kulevi terminals. After the finishing of technical justification, the solution of financial problems will be started.
Hungarian PM stressed that the project will be attractive with its cooperation productivity.
