Baku - APA-Economics. Iran has halted natural gas supplies to Turkey, spokesman for the National Iranian Gas Company Majid Bujarzade declared, Aysor reported.
According to the Bujarzade, gas supplies were stopped at Turkish side’s request, “due to technical problems in the territory of Turkey.â€
Gas supplies will be restored after the problems are eliminated, spokesman stressed as reported by ITAR-TASS.
Last night, an explosion hit a pipeline carrying natural gas from Iran to Turkey, in the Argi province of Turkey, near the city of Eleskirt. Turkish sources say it was a diversion and blame militants of the separatist Kurdistan Workers’ Party, or PKK, for the blast.
