Ogtay Asadov exchanged views with Turkish President Abdullah Gul, Secretary General of the Council of Europe Terry Davis, PACE President René van der Linden and other officials of the Council of Europe at the reception.
Head of Azerbaijani delegation to PACE Samad Seyidov said that the parties discussed development of Council of Europe-Azerbaijan relations.
“Such receptions are also very important. Participation of all officials of the Council of Europe at the reception shows that they attach great importance to Azerbaijan, Turkey and their relations with the Council of Europe,†he said.
Asked whether Azerbaijan will be debated at the winter session, Samad Seyidov said as a country under monitoring, issue on Azerbaijan can be debated at every session.
“There is nothing extraordinary here. According to the procedure, the countries under monitoring are to be debated once a year. Debates on other countries are also often held. For example, the issue concerning Georgia and Moldova was debated in the Monitoring Committee. But this does not surprise anyone. Everybody is surprised, whenever debates are held on Azerbaijan. These are regular activities and one should be accustomed to it, instead of stirring up excitement. It should be prevented, as real problems are not seen within this excitement,†he said. /APA/
