Compared with the flags of foreign countries, the majority of Azerbaijani flags are dirty, description of crescent and star has rubbed off and some are torn. Besides, the sizes of the flags also differ – some are big and others are small.
Mubariz Agayev, chief of Baku Mayor’s Office Foreign Affairs Department protocol unit also confirmed it. He attributed it to the lack of flags.
“We have no other flags along the road. I know that it is not right, but what we could do. All the flags are planned to be changed. The size and description on the flags will be in line with the state standards,” he said.
Mubariz Agayev said that this is in the competence of Baku Mayor’s Office Housing department.
“This department has to change the flags in the city in time. As far as I know, all the flags are planned to be in line with standards. We know that flags should be meet standards and changed after a time. This is connected with financial problems,” he said.
Officer of Baku Mayor’s Office Housing department Sabit Huseynov noted that changing flags is not in their competence.
“We are executors. We hang the flag we are given,” he said.
Sabit Huseynov said Baku Mayor’s Office Foreign Affairs Department gives flags of foreign countries to them, but did not say what body gives them Azerbaijani flags.
Galib Agayev, officer of State Agency for Standardization, Metrology and Patents told APA that according to the standards, the ratio of the width to the length shall be 1 to 2.
“We also see that the flags hung in the city do not meet standards. Relevant bodies are to be responsible for this,” he said. /APA/
