US Embassy in Azerbaijan presents grant allotted for Elmar Huseynov Fund

The presentation of the grant allotted for Elmar Huseynov Fund was held today in US Embassy in Azerbaijan, APA reports.
US extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador to Azerbaijan Ann Derse called Elmar Huseynov one of the symbols of free journalism.
Ann Derse called Azerbaijani government to find murderers of Elmar Huseynov and expressed her anxiety on the pressures against correspondent of Yeni Musavat newspaper for Nakhchivan Hakimeldostu Mehdiyev.
The ambassador saying that imprisonment of journalists arouses anxiety, called Azerbaijani government to release them. The ambassador stated that distinguished journalists will be awarded Elmar Huseynov grant every month. The prize is intended for investigating journalists most of all.
Diplomat added that site of Elmar Huseynov will be active. Ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of Norway to Azerbaijan Yon Ramberg called Elmar Huseynov embodiment of freedom and said hello from his wife and son living in Norway at present. One of the founders of Elmar Huseynov fund Shahbaz Khuduoglu seemed very thankful to the US embassy for the grant: â€œIt proves that US is the closets friend of Azerbaijani pressâ€. Mr. Khuduoglu underlined that 18 projects will be implemented through this grant and one journalist will be awarded every month. He stressed that the site will be active from tomorrow on. /APA/
