Minister: Lithuania and Azerbaijan will sign memorandum on military cooperation

Minister visiting the tomb of the then Azerbaijani President in the Alley of Honors today said that they aim to deepen friendship relations between Azerbaijan and Lithuania through military cooperation.
â€œWe will deepen this cooperation in the field of exchange of experience first of all and share Lithuaniaâ€™s practice on membership to European Union and NATO,â€ he said.
Mr.Olekas stated that Azerbaijani officers study in Lithuania and Estonia and learn experience of these countries.
â€œWe are participating in peacekeeping operations and want share this experience with you. Lithuania chairs group on restoration of Gor province of Afghanistan at present. Servicemen of Ukraine, Croatia, Iceland, US, Denmark serve there along with us, negotiations are carried out for involving Georgian servicemen to this work,â€ he said.
Minister also said that he had efficient meeting with Defense Minister, Prime Minister and President.
Mr.Olekas called 2007 special year for deepening Lithuanian-Azerbaijani relations.
â€œAzerbaijani President visited Lithuania and Lithuanian president visited Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev is also expected to visit Vilnius in ten days,â€ he said. /APA/
