Robert Simmons holds press conference on results of his visit to the region

Robert Simmons had meetings with Azerbaijani President, Defense Minister, Deputy Defense Minister, Parliament leadership, chief of State Border Service, ambassadors, representatives of working group in the framework of Individual Partnership Action Plan (IPAP) signed between Azerbaijan and NATO within his visit to Azerbaijan. He expressed his gratitude to Azerbaijani senior officials for supporting NATO in operations held in Kosovo and Afghanistan.
Robert Simmons introduced NATO coordinator for South Caucasus Zbignev Ribatskin and underlined that he will stay in the region.
NATO Secretary Generalâ€™s Special Representative also assessed measures taken in the framework of IPAP program within past two years and said that progress was achieved in this field.
Debates were also carried out on the measures to be taken for the next two years in the framework of IPAP program during Robert Simmonsâ€™s visit.
â€œThis new plan is expedient and progressive,â€ he said.
Robert Simmons regarded importance of participation of Azerbaijani military unions in peacekeeping operations, continuation of modernization in Defense Ministry, holding trainings for small officer staff and application of new communication means. /APA/
