Georgian MPs meet Azerbaijan-Georgia friendship group

Georgian parliamentarians had a meeting with members of Azerbaijan-Georgia friendship group, head of the group Ganira Pashayeva told the APA. The interstate and interparliamentary relations were on focus. The visitors link their visiting Baku on May 10 with Heydar Aliyev’s birthday saying that Heydar Aliyev did much not only for Azerbaijan but also for Georgia.
“Projects like Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan, Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum are of great importance not only for Azerbaijan but also fro Georgia. The relations between Georgia and Azerbaijan reached the level of strategic partnership during Heydar Aliyev’s ruling. Heydar Aliyev laid the foundation of this policy. So, it our duty to visit Heydar Aliyev’s tomb,” they said.
Ganira Pashayeva said that they discussed the expansion of interparliamentary friendship groups. They underlined the high-level cooperation, close cooperation on the level of international organizations.
Asked if the problems of Azerbaijanis living in Georgia were debated, Pashayeva said it was noted that Azerbaijanis living in Georgia and Georgians living Azerbaijan tie the two countries. Azerbaijani parliamentarians asked their Georgian colleagues to help the Azerbaijanis to solve problems concerning education, land problems and to establish regional television.
The parliamentarians decided that mutual visits should be extended. The members of the friendship groups considered it expedient to have meetings in the regions where Azerbaijani live in Georgia and Georgians live in Azerbaijan. /APA/
