“The settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict is on international level. No country claiming democracy and justice will start war with Armenia for ensuring Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity,” former Iranian ambassador to Azerbaijan, expert of Iranian Foreign Ministry on Asian and CIS countries Afshar Suleymani told the APA.
The diplomat said that OSCE Minsk Group, which was set up to solve the conflict has done nothing to eliminate the problem up to now. He also said that Iran should not stand aside from the negotiations for the settlement of the conflict.
“Iran is the closest neighbor of Azerbaijan, but is not allowed to join the negotiations. While US and other states interfere with these processes. The US officials even make statements in Azerbaijan against Iran and have double approach regarding the settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict. Iran, however, has always supported and helped Azerbaijan in the very first days. Regrettably, Iran’s efforts are underestimated,” he said. /APA/
