Baku – APA. Scottish writer Fiona McLachlan will publish a book about the Khojaly tragedy. Editor of the magazine “Visions of Azerbaijan” issued by The European Azerbaijan Society, writer Fiona McLachlan gave an interview to Perthshire Advertiser” in Scotland about the Khojaly tragedy and said that together with The European Azerbaijan Society she was working on the book informing the world community about the horrors of Khojaly tragedy. She said in his interview to Perthshire Advertiser that returning to the country in January to relive the Khojaly massacre with refugees had enhanced her appreciation of Fair City life. “Over 600 people were killed by Armenian and Russian armed forces in the tragic incident during the Nagorno Karabagh War in 1992. I spent three days talking to refugees and their stories, as you might expect, were harrowing. The night of the tragedy was dark, snowy and freezing. Khojaly families, most in little more than night clothes, were fired on as they tried to take the only available route to the next town. It involved wading through a freezing river and then hiking through an upland forest. The snow was red with blood. The Khojaly survivors have no choice but to live with their memories of the violent conflict, as refugees in Azerbaijan, miles from their beautiful and fertile mountain homelands”, Fiona McLachlan said.
